CHORA is commissioned jointly with TungHai University to create a study for the reduction of CO2 emissions and energy management for the City of Taichung in the context of Climate Change. This masterplan overlays a detailed strategy for implementing efficient and renewable energy pilot projects onto the existing and potential development, using a holistic planning approach to propose an Energy Incubator.
The project commenced in December 2008 and a mid-term presentation took place on 30th April 2009.
A review of the city’s current situation, case studies, proposals for pilot projects at six specific sites, as well as key issues and action plans for implementation will be included in the final report to be presented on 7th August 2009.
A further presentation of this pioneering masterplan proposal could potentially take place at the INTA conference October 2009 organised by Taichung’s Department of Urban Development.
This project is in collaboration with the Department of Architecture, Taichung University, and SCS Architects Associates, and is commissioned by the Department of Urban Development, Taichung City Government.
