Founded in 1993, CHORA research investigates new forms of urban planning, design and curatorial practices. CHORA research is working on the Urban Gallery, a prototype for a non-linear open source planning tool, both knowledge management instrument and public domain, an agora for exchange and negotiations. This research includes the development of methods for co-evolutionary planning techniques as well as the formulation of policies pertaining to the sustained growth of cities, especially in environments that have undergone radical changes in political, economic, social or cultural conditions that have propelled them towards new forms of urbanity. CHORA research is involved in applications of the Urban Gallery in The Netherlands and Germany, in Chile and Argentine, in Ireland and the UK, and in China and Taiwan.
